When he acts bad…

Films take you to a totally different world. You would just forget your reality and get into reel life, experiencing all that is happening on screen. Heroes make you fall in love with him. You adore his ways and hail him as an ideal dream icon. But in the next movie you see him totally in a different shade. He is rough, sly and evil. One would wonder if this is the same man who had stolen hearts with his goodness.

Since early times, heroes have not only showed their good side but also bad one. Most of the actors have walked the path of treachery. They have donned the villain garb, experiencing the baddie outlook. Commercial heroes have set an unwritten trend to follow the bad roles after creating a niche in the tinsel town as a dream hero. They equally grab attention by donning the villain roles. You will equally hate him as you had loved him as a hero.

The romantic looking Prasanna in ‘Anjathey’, took audience by surprise with his vicious role. He completely changed his course of acting and dived in to a villain character. Dancing talent Bharath turned a green-eyed character in ‘Chellame’, giving sleepless nights for the married couple in the movie. There are many other instances where the hero has stepped into the bad world.

Forthcoming movies, we will see more popular heroes in the contrasting roles. Sibiraj is gearing up for his next movie as a villain in ‘Naanayam’. The movie is directorial debut of Sathya who had worked before with Mysskin and Venkat Prabhu and other stars are Prasanna, Ramya Rai (Ragini) and S.P.Balasubramaniam. The light eyed hero Arya too will wear the villain’s garb in an untitled Telugu project, which is directed by Gunasekar. We have seen his cunningness in ‘Pattiyal’ and ‘Arindhum Ariyamalum’, but in this movie a full villain is born in Arya.

After giving several notable hero characters, Vikram wants to earn people’s wrath. Mani Rathnam’s ‘Ravanna’ has essayed him a baddie character. Now it will be really thrilling to see this adorable actor in a negative shade.

But there are heroes who entered the industry and later turned to act hero characters. When Superstar Rajinikanth first stepped into play the main role, the air was full of doubts as to whether he will make it as a hero. But the result is out for all to see and Rajini went on to capture the audience. Then on Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar and Vijayakanth also went on to became heroes after shedding their initial villain tag. And who can forget the cruel Jeevan in ‘Khakka Khakka’? His next movies showed him as a good one and romantic man.

Well, heroes being villain or villain being hero, audience are occasionally fed with innovative style and refreshing talents. The industry is full of experiments. After all each person has a secret side… Black, white or grey…
